Well that is just to bad huh? You shouldn't procrastinate huh? Well maybe it is already done but next time get it done and find other books. You say it like there is only one book on rainforests in the world. Goodness Gracious!

Rainforests are very interesting places. One minute it can be boiling hot and the next it can be pouring with rain. In the depths of the rainforests many noteable creatures and vicious plants hide in the darkness. Swamps are ussually found in rainforests. To find more out go onto google and type in the amazon and find out about the brilliant amazon and find images.

Columbus did not discover America
Dear ms Ganeri,
Please find the letter that i sent to Scholastic Children's books with regard to your Odious Oceans.
Dear madam, sir,
I have read aloud some of your books to my youngest son who is seven years
old and we enjoy your books very much. My eldest son (11) reads them on his
own and as we have a pile of Scholastic Children's books they have plenty to
choose from.
However, in Anita Ganeri's delightful book 'Horrible Geography. Odious
Oceans' i have spotted a mistake. On page 86/87 of the Dutch translation
she writes how Columbus discovered America and that so far no good evidence
has been found to back the claim that other people had already been to
America before Columbus.
I would like to draw your and her attention to Ivan Van Sertima's book 'They
came before Columbus' (1976) - The African presence in Ancient America.
I quote (from the cover of the book):
"..., Ivan Van Sertima builds a pyramid of evidence to support his claim of
an African presence in the New World centuries before Columbus."
I think it is crucial that ms Ganeri updates her information. My children
are half West-African and i think it is important for them to know the
facts. But it is also vital for others to learn about the input and
influence that Africa has always had on our world.
I would be grateful if you forward my e-mail to ms Ganeri.

taking into account all cultures.

I'm a Canadian teacher who has spent many years as an educator.
Recently, I have begun developing online educational resources to promote
success, positive growth and encouragement for Kindergarten through grade
four students. My passion is to help and encourage all children with their various
learning styles and abilities.
Each subject will have a section which contains: stories, text, worksheets, songs, videos and interactive or downloadable educational software games. My goal is to expand student thinking about the world around them. One section of this will be focused on nature. Would you be willing to contribute any in or out-of-print children's books i.e. "I Wonder Why Camels Have Humps and Other Questions About Animals" to the site?
The book(s) will not be downloadable in any way. The only copying will be placing a scanned version of the work on the site, with your written permission. The book(s) are simply to enhance the curriculum and for student viewing/reading on the site. The book(s)

Sacred Text Series
On page 8 of The Qur'an and Islam there is a very uncommon explanation regarding how the revelations began. The Prophet did not read anything from a cloth but recited the revelation orally. It is commonly accepted and understood to be accurate that he was squeezed by the Angel and then he recited the verses not read them. It is an extremely rare expalantion in orthodox Islam that a cloth even existed.

First World War and Serbia's role in it
Ms.Ganeri, I have recently bought the World History Encyclopedia written by yourself, Hazel Mary Martell and Brian Williams and published by Parragon.
I very much enjoyed reading it with my children until we reached the chapter on World War I.
I was dismayed to read that you placed Serbia in Central Powers alliance along with Germany and Austria-Hungary.
It is a well known fact that the First World War started by Austria-Hungary declaring a war against Serbia and that Serbia fought AGAINST Central Powers.
I do hope that this mistake will not be repeated in any other books on World War I.

Good evening Mrs Ganeria,
l am the Principal of New Horizons College in Minna, Nigeria. Our website address is www.ietonline.org.
We intend to start teaching our students world history, using the World History Encyclopedia, published by yourself and others. Our school is owned by Aisha Bridget Lemu, who is a British Citizen married to a prominent Nigerian.
We followed up on the address from the only copy in our library, which led us to the United Kingdom. The publishing house in Barth informed us that they no longer publish this book, but it is now been published in the United States, hence my search on the web leading me to you. We want to start teaching this subject by September 2008, and we propose to order for 400 copies and subsequently 80 copies every other year.
You could make private enquries on us, so that you are sure of our credibility.
Could you please help us urgently as school resumes on the 24th of August 2008?
